If anyone is in the position I was in searching for a Gigabit Net card for
Fedora core 3 and wonderring what one works, I found the Intel Pro/1000 GT
Desktop adapter works. Fedora core 3 detected a unknown net card. You still
have to download or use the Linux Drivers. Intel has good instructions on
how to install the drivers.

Since Fedora Core 3 detected this card I am assuming Red Hat Professional
Workstation will as well. The machine this will be going into is a computer
running that. I will find that out this weekend when I swap it into that
computer and then see. Intel states as long as you have a 2.4.X and 2.6.x
kernals and use their driver it works. This card ran me $60.

The Linksys gigabit card model # EG1032 is not supported under Red Hat
Workstation Professional and I did not have any luck with it under Fedora
core 3.

I just thought I might put some info encase anyone is thinking of using a
Intel Pro/1000

Chad

Strange, have some FC3 box with Intel 10/100/1000 Gigabit
adapter, according to 'lspci':

Ethernet controller: Intel Corp. 82541GI/PI Gigabit Ethernet Controller

It uses the e1000 module, which comes with FC3, IIRC it worked
with just putting in. Was under the impression most if not all
Intel GB nics use this chipset copper/SX and this module.

Intel e1000-cards have worked straight out of the box on every
Linux distro I've come across for quite some time. Last time
I had to install them manually is more than three years ago.
