Hi there,

I would like to introduce you to our newest offering - the WSG-5000
Instant Hotspot wireless access controller
(http://www.InstantHotspot.com). It is an awesome access point with
built-in authentication and accounting. Hence, there is no need to go
with a company like Hotspotzz, Pronto, Airpath, Cometa, Toshiba, or
anyone else for your billing and accounting services, saving you
$1,000's over time. All you need is contained in this neat little
package, meaning you get to keep 100% of any revenue you accept for
offering your patrons state-of-the-art wireless High Speed Internet
access!

It is small, but don't let the size fool you. Look at these features.
- Built-in AAA (auth, acct, authorization) (patents are pending)
- Built-in 4-port ethernet switch, for wired access, too!
- 100mW output, in addition to 2dbm dual diversity antenna system
- customizable welcome, splash page for guest login
- wall garden advertising offer free trial access, restricted by
domain name
- pop-up advertising while your guests surf the net
- ability to use your own SMTP server, so your guest won't have any
problem emailing
- VPN friendly

This is the perfect product for cafes, RV parks, campgrounds, resorts,
etc.

This product is going to turn the entire Hotspot industry upside down!
Check it out at http://www.InstantHotspot.com/

Kind regards,

Hi Michelle,
Does the WSG-5000 accept credit card payment on the fly? If a hotspot
location closes for the day, can a person create a user account right
away or will he/she have to wait until the next day for the hotspot
staff to assist me in creating an account? What about roaming
capabilities? Is time based usage continuous or time-block(e.g., if
you buy for 2hrs and don't use it, will u lose it)? Thanks.

No, it can't. And I don't believe that it can do external AAA (your own
RADIUS server and credit card processing solutions) and the internal,
single-use ticket AAA scheme at the same time.

David Taylor (a frequent poster here) has been playing with one of these
units. Maybe he can confirm...

Hi there,

No, the WSG-5000 does not accept credits at this time. However, we
hope to have that working in about a month or so. Any WSG-5000
purchases made made from us now, will only need a firmware update to
begin accepting credit cards.

Once the new firmware is in place, end-users will be able to provision
their own accounts on the fly using a credit card.

Also, it does not have roaming capabilities. But then again, isn't
that the point?, to get away from being tied to any backend services
that charge monthly fees?

The WSG-5000 is totally self-contained, with its own built-in account
generator. It is a true, plug-n-play device. There is no need for any
back-end AAA services, saving you a ton of money.

The best thing to do is simply buy one and try it out for yourself.
They are relatively inexpensive at $629
(http://www.InstantHotspot.com).

Kind regards,
Michelle

Certainly the one I played with can not do CC processing as it can not
connect to a back radius server.

On the time front, you can allocate a block which expires at a totally
seperate time, i.e. if you get 2 hours, it might expire 2 weeks later
but you have 2 weeks in which to use your 2 hours. All configurable.

David.

I support what you say however the one limitation that I would offer is
that in a large deployment, one unit is unlikely to provide the radio
cover and therefore roaming within the wireless domain IS an issue.
Roaming between aggregators here is not my concern but when trying to
cover a modest hotel, one box will not suffice.

I haven't tried the cheapo Dlink repeater options.

David.
