I'm trying to set up a home network. While trying to
install the Linksys notebook adaptor, the wizard asked me
to insert the system disk. I bought my ThinkPad used and
it came with Win98SE installed, but no disk. So I used
the same system disk that I used with my desktop. The
wizard said it couldn't find a file, the another, so I
quite the installation, but I didn't write down which
files it required. When I tried to start it again, after
rebooting, the wizard wouldn't start. I called Linksys
tech support and they said it was looking for the .dll
files, and that I'd have to get them from MS. Anybody
know where I can download these for free, and how I would
then go about completing the adaptor card installation?
Any suggestions?

Hi:

My teck support from DLink was great. I am giving you the
2 steps instruction I received, which worked.

Try 1st remove the hardware under "My Computer" (right
click), then "Properties". Find "Other Devise" which has
a big question mark. Click on your newly installed
hardward and choose "remove". Restart your computer.
When your computer turns on again, the installation wizard
should find the new hardware device, go through the
installation process.

2nd, try download the program from DLL WORLD. I found it
through google. Type in the file name you try to locate
in Google, and it will show you a list which includes DLL
WORLD. Free download and it in alfabetical order.

Good luck.

Search your hard drive for several dozen files with names ending in the
letters CAB - if these are found, these are your Windows Setup files and you
can tell the installer to look there for the files it needs.
