We recently got DSL in our area. I first purchase a linksys
router and wireless card and more recently the same from
netgear. The router is OK but I have had the same problem
with both card.

I have a Dell 400mhz Inspiron laptop with Windows 98-SE (up
to date with releases). After going through the
installation of the software and then the wireless card
everything appears to be OK. But I can not connect to the
net. When you do a winipcfg the only binding listed is a
"PPP Adapter". Consequently the card unable to connect.

The last time I spoke with the Netgear tech support they
said it was a TCP/IP issue an there for I would have to
reinstall window. I recently replaced my hard drive and did
a typical windows install so I don't think re-install will
make a difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim Tinder

Did you click the down arrow next to the adapter name in Winipcfg?
That should give a menu showing all of the adapters, including the
Netgear wireless adapter.

Here's another way to see if TCP/IP is bound to the Netgear adapter:
open a command prompt window and type "ipconfig /all".
