Installing Sony wireless PC Card

Hi,

Just before Christmas I had ADSL installed, and my Netgear wireless
router is working well with a few desktop PCs and my father's laptop.
I've just bought a Sony PCWA-C300S 802.11g PC Card to use with my Vaio
laptop, mainly because I like its slim antenna. However, I can't get it
to work.

When I followed the instructions to run the installation software and
insert the card when prompted, the card was detected but the driver did
not install successfully. I've since managed to install the driver
using the Add Hardware wizard, but it shows up in the Device Manager
with the device status message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
I've tried reinstalling it without success, and I've searched the web
for people with similar problems, but haven't been able to find anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

My computer is a Vaio GRS515SP, running Windows XP Professional. I keep
it up to date with Windows Update, and I've got Sophos anti-virus and
SQL Server 2000 evaluation version installed.

Thanks,

Rob

Sounds like a driver problem - get the latest drivers...?

Guy,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've uninstalled the old driver and downloaded a new copy from Sony's
website. The Found New Hardware wizard opened automatically, and I
chose "Install from a list or specific location", and browsed to the
directory where I'd unzipped the driver. I then got the message "Cannot
Install this Hardware, The hardware was not installed because the wizard
cannot find the necessary software." I'll try getting some help from
Sony, but so far I haven't been able to register for their support site.
