Hi,
I have a server with two NICs (SMC-1255TX and an Accton), this is
working just fine.
Now I added another SMC-1255TX and rebooted. It now started Kudzu and
re-found the Accton card(!) only.
It had also, 'moved' the old SMC-1255TX device to the new SMC-1255TX
card so I had to unplug the cable for the old and connect it to the
new. And so now it doesn't 'find' the old SMC-1255TX, i.e. there should
be an eth2 interface but there is not....
What gives? How can I get it to create an eth2 device for the new card.
/etc/modules.conf looks like this:
alias eth0 tulip
alias eth1 8139too
alias char-major-81 bttv
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
pre-install pentaval insmod scanval
alias pentaval0 pentaval
Should I just add this:
alias eth2 tulip
?
in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts there is no 'ifcfg-eth2' file.
Can I get it to accept this new card without having to reboot? (it's a
production machine, don't wanna reboot too often).
Also, what's wrong with Kudzu?
I'm using stock RH9 by the way.
Any hints much appreciated. thanks.
Regards,
Tobias Skytte
