install proftpd.exe in cygwin not work

dear proftpd users:


in window xp's cygwin, I tried to install proftpd 1.2.10 , but it
failed

$ /usr/sbin/proftpd.exe
outlawinn - unable to set uid to 18, current uid: 1007

Looks like it installed just fine from here. You really need to learn to
describe your problems correctly.

Does the user you started Cygwin as have Administrator privileges on the MS
PC?

How is this related to Linux + networking?

Perhaps you are missing user with UID 18?

cygwin run on window mean linux, I setup proftpd is for serveing file
upload, download for web user. so it is related with Linux +
networking.

so how should I fix it?
my wireless internet was supplied by motel. should I inform them I am
runing proftpd? I hope not.

Nope, cygwin gives you some kind of *nix environment under doze,
but it has nothing to do with Linux.

How should I know? I'd add check the proftpd FAQ and probably add
the user using 'useradd', but you are running doze, not *Linux*,
making your question OT.
