I was told I need to insert a long pass phrase but my Dlink, I believe
only allows 10 HEX values. Is there another place I can insert a long
pass phrase?

It depends on the model and the firmware your are running. Sounds like
your
dlink just supports 64bit WEP. A passphrase is just a phrase you type
in and it converts it
and sticks it in the wep location. Using the hex is fine. You might
check for a firmware
update at dlink.

First of all, make sure you update your DI-524 to version 1.05.
According to the D-link website, this particular version fixes the WPA
passphrase issue. The link is:

http://www.dlink.com/products/suppor...sec=0#firmware

Once you've done this, you should be able to select WPA-PSK and enter
a long nonsense passphrase up to 63 characters. Let us know how it
goes. Take care.
