Initial Login No Network

My Windows 98 Second Edition system is not working completely correctly. I
have recently had to recover from a disk partial disk failure and this is
the root source of this problem. I am running in a three computer home
network. I am using a wireless/wired router and the computer in question is
wired. The wireless router is connected to a cable modem for an ISP
connection.

When I initially boot up, I do not get a Windows or Microsoft Network login.
I can reach the internet in this state, but I cannot get to the shared
resources on the Windows XP Professional computer. If I select Start, the
"Logoff..." is shown. In other words, I have been logged in with no user
name. If I log off, I am presented with the login dialog box with my usual
user name. If I login with this user name, I am able to see the shared
resources on the Windows XP Professional computer. If I select Start at
this point, I see "Logoff <user name>..."

So does anyone have suggestions on how I correct the startup from power on
or restart so that it allows me to login?

Paul

Found my answer in one of Carey Holzman's recent suggestions in a previous
thread "File sharing ceased working". In the registry, at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Network\Real
Mode Net

Deleted the value named "AutoLogon".

Thanks Carey Holzman.
