You used to have to provide a full VAT invoice (address, VAT numbers etc.)
for all sales over £50.
I think the limit for a full VAT invoice has been raised to ~£200. Below
that you only have to show basic details like company name, goods and
amount.
I also think that if you supply a VAT invoice by email (with the customer's
consent) then you no longer have to supply a paper one.
Then again there are always going to be companies who can't do basic
paperwork.
