Inconsistant Home Drive Mapping

Hi all,

I know this topic has been mulled over in many forums, but i have not
really seen a qualified resolution to this issue.

We have a 2003 R2 AD environment, with mixed clients, some win 2k some
XP sp2.

All users have a Home drive mapped from within ADUAC using
\\servername\home\$username$ which is pretty standard and which works
100% on the win 2k clients. But on the XP clients only 95% of the time.

When it fails (which is only now and again), the home is mapped to the
root share showing all the home directories, which causes outlook to
fail as their pst file lives in the home folder.

All users have full rights to the home share, with NTFS restricting
them to their own folder.

The other drives are mapped via a VBS script and work great.

This happens on 2 of our sites, which both have different DC's.

I have read all sorts relating to GPO's being at fault, the share being
corrupt, use a login script instead, none of which seem to offer a
resolution or cause for this behaviour.

Confused

Phil
