Impossible to install DLINK DFE-530TX

I have installed a DLINK DFE-530TX adapter on my PC. The first day it
worked fine, but the next day, the computer refused to start (nothing
happened, not even the fans).

I suspected an IRQ conflict, made different PCI slots trials, and I
have removed an other card (which didn't share IRQ) to install the
DLINK. I have cleared the CMOS of the motherboard, but the card simply
doesn't appear in the device manager, and Windows 98 doesn't find it
any more.

I have run the Diag.exe program under DOS session, and it says there
is no DLINK card in the PC.

Is my card defective or is it a configuration problem?

What else can I try?

Thank-you in advance for your help.

If you have cleared the CMOS then you must reset it otherwise the metal
box does not know how to become a computer as it is the BIOS/CMOS that
tells the bits of junk that they have to talk to each other.
(In crude terms)
Refusing to start at all suggests you upset some plug or jumper other
than the new card.

Thank-you for your help, I did reset the CMOS with no success. Finally I
have found the solution tonight on the support site of another board
(Netgear).

If it happens to somebody :
- remove the DLINK divers
- shut down the PC
- remove physically the adapter (do not install it yet in another slot)
- start the computer under windows
- shut it down
- now it is possible to install the card, in the same slot or in an other
one
- turn the computer on, it will ask for the driver disk and for WIN98 disk.

My last problem is: I have removed my firewire card to install the Ethernet
one. Now I have IRQ conflicts in the 4 remaining free slots of my KT7A-Raid:
- Slot 3 with ? (it doesn't work)
- Slot 4 with USB
- Slot 5 with IDE HTP370
- Slot 6 with USB? (it doesn't work)

(Slot 1 = Sound Blaster, Slot 2 = DLINK)

In the Bios/Cmos check the item that says operating system is plug and
play aware.
This will allow the operating system to reallocate resources where the
BIOS may be allocating overlaps and causing conflicts. (Due to jumper or
default settings on the individual cards)
