Can recommend Blueyonder, if you're in a Telewest area.

Indeed. Try their Postcode Checker..

http://www.blueyonder.co.uk/blueyond...ge=serv_signup

IMO, their e-mail service is very flakey (always has been), the binary news
server is less than perfect, but the text news server usually works well.

I'm with Zen (www.zen.co.uk) and love it.
No contention - so throughput rates are always as bought.

Ben,

All ADSL have contention ratios, on Zen home it's 50:1.

So why do Zen say:

BANDWIDTH TO SPARE
We guarantee NO CONTENTION on our network. Uncompromised service with
bandwidth investment that stays well ahead of customer demand is the only
sure way to deliver performance that provides full Internet enjoyment and
business-critical reliability.

on their home page?

Note the use of the word "our". They have no control over the bt
backbone network and that is where contention may reach as much as 50:1.

because they're only guaranteeing no contention "on their network". The
BT part (before that) is still 50:1.

I still find it hard to believe...they probably mean "no significant
delays". Email and ask them...it'd be interesting to know what they *do*
mean.

Hi Stephen,

I signed up with a company called Blueleaf Internet -
www.blueleafinternet.com - about a month ago with their 1mb service,
they have newsgroup access and so far i havn't had any problems with
them. The connection took about 7 days and i got a free modem and
checp connection.
