Hi. I’ve just found this group, so apologies for the question which, I’m
sure, has been answered many times. However, I’m a rank amateur, so here
goes . . .

I currently run a Compaq Presario 6000 desktop PC connected to the net via a
ntl Broadband cable modem. I also have a Hewlett Packard n5412L laptop. I
wish to be able to use both on the internet. I’ve seen advertised the
following;

Belkin 802.11g Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router

Belkin 802.11g Wireless Notebook Network Card

Would they be suitable??

Budgie

Sorry - forgot to say that both machines are running XP Home

Yes, that will do the job. Two things though:
Belkin is cheap but not necessarily that good or reliable. Draytek 2600We
and Orinoco PC Card are my choices.
The 11g / 54Mbs speed only works between your computers, the cheaper 11b /
11Mbs is at least five times
faster then your cable internet connection.
Regards,
Martin
