Hi,,

We have a PC running windows ME. When trying to open a
file on a network drive we get message

.... called from 0028:C0033B04 in VxD IFSMGR(01) +
000010B4...

If we open Excel, word etc and then open the network file
it opens ok.

The network drive is on a NT4 workstation. The ME machine
has all the latest updatesand has been working fine until
recently.

Any suggestions please ?

Thanks

Denis

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem except my office files
reside on a windows 2000 server. I have found a knowledge
base article 293793 that says we need to contact microsoft
for a fix but I can't find a way of doing this without
incurring a charge and I refuse to pay them for something
I feel I should get for free. So I'm living with the
problem. In my case, the problem only occurs when clicking
on the file in windows explorer, it does not occur if you
open the application (e.g. word) first and then use the
file open function within Word to navigate to the shared
drive and select the file that way.

Regards

Steve
