I've never seen a linux version that didn't show all interfaces that
were enabled when you do ifconfig. There is a -a switch for all interfaces.

What does
ifconfig eth1 show?

Hi,

When you type ifconfig it shall show all the interfaces.
Yes try ifconfig eth1/ ifconfig -a and let us know the result.

ifconfig sucks, it may fail to display some information. Use "ip" from
the iproute2 package instead.

ifconfig shows only up interfaces... do dmesg | grep eth or lspci ...
