I have a good wireless connection, but I get an error message when IE tries
to connect

Sorry, I was in a hurry. "Page cannot be displayed" server or DNS error.
I also cannot clear the DNS cache.

make sure you wireless card is set to use DHCP for it's IP address and DNS
servers

Can you ping internet addresses from a command window? If you run: ipconfig
/all from a command window is there a DNS server/s listed?

Within IE have you checked: Tools | Internet Options | Connections tab to
make sure IE is not trying to use a proxy or automatically detect settings.
Have you tried a wired connection, what happens if so?

Unless of course he's using static IP's.
