It also works if I turn the idle timeout to zero. However, if they sell a
product that claims it has an idle timout facility, then its should work,
and if it does not, then they should fix it. From my experience writing
telecoms software, a fault that you find during testing is often a symptom
of other problems that you have not spotted yet, and I would prefer it if
something that was performing a critical function such as being my firewall
worked properly. If things are not being reset properly, who knows what
ports it might be leaving open in other circumstances???
Also, I have a suspicion that it does not recover properly in some
circumstances if there is a break in transmission from the exchange end, and
setting the timeout to zero, or whatever, will not fix that.
But it may just be a problem with my setup (although I beleive my testing
shows that it is not, but I may be wrong). hence my request to see if
anyone else is willing to do a simple test.
