I've got two PC's with wired printers. One USB one parallel.
The parallel died and I have always shared the two with no issue but
that means, as everyone knows, the one PC must be on.

I also have a wireless router. So I'm looking for a way to hook the USB
printer without the PC. I'm guessing a wireless print server, or a
wired one. Doesn't matter to me, the printer and router are 2 ft
apart. I just want it to be on line somehow so my wireless laptop
upstairs has a way to print without turning on PCs. PS the router has
no printer ports.

Does anyone have any good products they would like to suggest. Brand /
Model. Thanks.

Hi
In general wire always works better than Wireless. Since the devices are
only 2 feet apart you are better with wire.
This page provide a Big selection read the reviews and find out what fit
your system.

I have used a Hewlett-Packard JetDirect 175x USB to Ethernet print server
with my laser printer for many years. It has a web interface. Works great;
you won't even know it's there.

I also have a Netgear WGPS606 which I use to extend my wireless network. I
tried to use the USB ports with printers, but it was a major hassle, and
never worked right. This device does make a great, low-cost WiFi bridge.

Hi
Yeah, when the printer server and the printer are from the same manufacturer
and design to work together, they work great.
Unfortunately it is Not so great when you use a 3rd party stand alone unit.
