Greetings. I came across a peculiar problem which I can't seem to be
able to solve no matter how much I search.
I've got two network cards, one of which connects to my internet
router and one that has a peer-to-peer connection to another computer.
I recently installed Windows 2003 Server, and activated ICS to get the
other computer to work with the network. All was fine, until after I
installed Active Directory and set up a domain.
At that point, ICS stopped working, and the p2p connection went into
it's "Limited connectivity" state, because the other computer wasn't
getting an IP, understandable. The problem is that the ICS option
completely disappeared from the connection options. As in, there is an
option to firewall it, but not one to share it. And that's the
beginning of my headache.
Now, I've read at MS that ICS shouldn't be used on domain controllers,
so I've tried to go through the whole Routing and Remote Access
procedure as explained in the following article:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...2003/standard/
proddocs/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/WindowsServ/2003/
standard/proddocs/en-us/sag_rras-ch3_06d.asp
.... But when I try to activate RRAS, it tells me that the connections
are shared by ICS and can't be used!
So what gives? I can't share with ICS and I can't use this because I
supposedly can even though I can't?
Any help would be seriously appreciated. I've been hitting my head on
the wall for hours on end about this.
Thankyou
