I figured out that My problem was having both the laptop and desktop ip's on
the wireless network set to manual, so I changed the client(laptop) ip
settings to automatic and Voila! problem solved. This should also fix the
problem I was having at my Mom's work, hope this save someone else the time
it cost me.
