ICS Host Address

With Windows ICS I know the default address for the Host is
192.168.0.1

Does it ** have ** to be that address for it to work?

Reason I ask is that I am temporarily changing my home network layout
and altering which machine is the host, this currently makes it
awkward as there is a conflict of IP addresses if I turn both machines
on and of course I cannot alter it unless I turn it on.

No.

You need to change the ip address in the normal manner and also change
it in this registry value to match

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ICSharing\Settings\General

IntranetInfo = 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 (change to your chosen ip)

If you are running dhcp you will have to change the pool numbers to
omit your number from the default pool.

And don't leave ics enabled when you get your router. That will cause
problems.

I've done a couple of searches for DHCP on the computer and cannot
appear to find any configuration utility for it.

Where can I change the pool numbers.
