ICS Confusion

I've recently tried to setup ICS with 2 cptrs, the one
conected to my ISP via an adsl connection has WinXP Pro SP2.
The other connected via a crossover cable to this machine is
WinME. The connection between the 2 computers used to work
until I stuffed up something this morning (i.e. the physical
connection config is correct). The ICS setup via the WinXP
installation disc doesn't seem to have done anything at all.

I recently changed modems from a d-link to a speedstream. I
seem to remember that with my d-link modem the ip address
for this pc was the same as my default gateway. Is that
likely, impossible, maybe, doesn't matter, etc?

Irrespective of the answer to that, for my WinME machine
should the default gateway be:
the ip address for this computer
the ip address for this computer's default gateway
this computer's local connection ip address
this computer's local connection default gateway.
or something else?

You should try posting to the microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web
newsgroup. This newsgroup supports Microsoft's Broadband Networking
hardware and software only.

Don't pay malware vendors - boycott Sony & Symantec

Please do not contact me directly or ask me to contact you directly for
assistance.

If your question is worth asking, it's worth posting.

If it’s not worth posting you should have done a search on
http://www.google.com/ http://www.google.com/grphp?hl=en&tab=wg&q= or
http://news.google.com/froogle?hl=en&tab=nf&ned=us&q= before wasting our
time.

If I sound hostile or arrogant you need to read the following before
posting a question "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" at
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html (The site I've linked
to just has this article I think people should read before posting a
technical question.)
