Hyperterminal vs Telnet

Allo,

Maybe my question is very easy, I'am beginner in networking, I work now with TeraTerm and I worked too with Telnet, but I don't understand her essential difference.

I know that Telnet works over the TCP protocol, unlike I don't know how TeraTerm works. I don't like make things by heart, I would like to undesrtand the ideas.

Help, please !!!

I would suggest use to stay with Telnet since it is oldest but more stable solution than TeraTerm. I've tried it once and after half hour of thinking on how to use it I have decided to leave it.
