Do hubs amplify signals. In other words could you use a hub and two 75 foot
cables to extend a signal to a computer that was located 150 feet from a
router?

Maybe, maybe not. You need to check the specs of your hub, some are spec's
as passive (and do NOT amplify), others are spec'd as active (and DO
amplify).

Hubs could go either way, and also have the device hop limit. But if you
use a switch it gets rid of the hop limit and amplifies to the std 100
meter limit (per side).
