HPNA or Wireless?

I've had a home network for the past 3 years using the Linksys
Phoneline USB adapters on an XP box running ICS and a W2K laptop.
I've had mixed results - stability is sketchy and performance can vary
as well.

If I go wireless with 802.11g or b will I see an increase in
performance and stability over HPNA?

Also, if wireless is the way to go, which brand/model is recommended?

Read this recommended devices mentioned here... You'll see which models to
avoid, as well as which firmware upgrades work and don't...

Darrel,
Are you referring to reading the recommendations on this NG, or were
you on you way to providing a link to some page somewhere?

Also, you mention that performance and stability will improve, to what
degree?

Thanks in advance.

Yes... No better place to get support as well...

Look over the devices referenced here, the list isn't very big...

A good wireless access point and card will act as though they are on
ethernet. So you're speed will be much improved over the 1 or 2 megabits you
get now, to near the limit of the speed of the gear you purchase...

Regarding broadband speed across my HPNA network, I measured an
average of 1.7MBS on my machine last night connected directly to my
cable modem and the same speed at my laptop that has net access
through the HPNA network.

I am not seeing how wireless will improve my broadband access speeds
on my home network. Am I missing something? Is ICS slowing down both
machines?

My machine-to-machine file transfer is hideously slow, but I thought
that was due to Microsoft Network protocols.

Best thing to do I guess is simply buy some WiFi "G" gear and give it
a go.

Thanks,
wjk
