Hi All,

I faced strange problem today that after i setup the printer driver on
the server and then add the printer to the PCs they couldnt print!

The printer connected by UTP cable to the hub and so the computers with
ip address, i tried to ping the IP but there is allot of request and
some reply, i replaced the UTP cable the problem still so i tried to
ping other PCs in the network and they are OK.

So is there possiblity to have the problem in the printer NIC or do you
have an idea?

Thanks,

We've had NIC's go "south" on two of our HP2300's. If you're printer
is under warranty, I'd have HP send you a replacement NIC.

G/L,
Eric

I have had A LOT of trouble with HP printers lately, *especially* the
2300 series. Most of our problems were driver-related. A good way to
test whether the printer and JetDirect (printer NIC) are communicating
is to tell the printer to print a configuration page (on the
Information menu). It should print two pages - one for the base
printer unit and one for the JetDirect card. If you only get one page,
then your NIC is either not seated properly, or it is bad. Even if it
is not connected to the network, you should still get its configuration
page printed out.
