Over the past few weeks I have been in contact with several companies
regarding setting up a hotspot in my cafe. In case this is of interest
to anyone, here is what I found:
Boingo: They are an aggregator of wireless hotspots which means that
their primary source of growth comes from partners that sell access to
their service as their own. It's run by the founder of Mindspring, Sky
Dayton out of California.
User Prices:
Two 24-hour sessions: $7.99
One month of use: $49.99
Commission Rates:
Every time a user connects for a 24-hour session, the hotspot gets
paid $1.00. There is also a $20 bonus if a user purchases a monthly
plan and stays with it for 2 months.

bubbleShack: This is a relatively new company that looks like it is
going to be launching within the next month or so. From what I've
researched, they are most likely going to rival Boingo with how many
hotspots they have but are pretty quiet about it. Their rates seem to
be the reason for the attraction in my opinion.
User Prices:
One hour session: $2.50
24-hour session: $6.00
One month of use: $39.99
Commission Rates:
Every time a user purchases an hour, the hotspot gets paid $1.00. If
they connect for a whole day, the hotspot gets $3.00. Similar to other
plans, if they buy a monthly plan, the hotspot gets $20.00 after two
months.

Wayport: This is the same company that owns the Laptop Lane locations
in most of the airports. They have tons of hotspots in hotels,
airports, and also roaming on other major wireless networks. I wasn't
able to find the commission rates for their use, but I did get the
user pricing. The only problem is that their wireless accounts expire
at midnight (?).
User Prices:
$9.95 till Midnight at Hotels, $6.95 at Airports
Prepaid cards of 3 connections for $25.
