Question:

I recently set up a wireless network in my house for 2 laptops (no
desktops). I am using a Microsoft wireless router (802.11g). The
laptop I used to set up the router is a Windows 98 system with a
microsoft wireless adapter card. Our other laptop (Gateway with an
Intel wireless card) has Windows XP Pro and it will work with the
router using an ethernet cable but it will not work wirelessly. We do
not want to share files between computers, just the broadband internet
connection. The XP computer can detect the network wirelessly, but
cannot connect to the internet. Is there a setting I have missed?
The WEP Key and the wireless channel are correct. Could it be
something to do with IP addressing?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Did you tell it to connect even f the connection is not secure?
Little box at the bottom of the box that shows what the names or the
networks are.
