hooking up 2 routers

Up till now my little local network has been connected to a 1 port linksys
BEFSR11 router. Now I have switched my phone to vonage so i got the linksys
wireless router for that (WRTP54G)). I want the wireless router to run my
phone and my wireless laptop. Everything else i want to have on my SR11 (i
run a 5 port switch to that). How do i hook up both routers to the cable
modem?
Can i do this?

------------- | --- befsr11 gateway 192.168.1.1
cable modem |--- HUB ---|
------------- | --- wireless gateway 192.168.15.1

If so, can i use a pc on the befsr11 network to access the wireless router?
In case the wireless connection is screwed up (by me) I'd like to be able to
"run around the U" from a pc on the lan connected to the befsr11 and access
the wireless router's config page (without re-wiring) - can i do that?
Thanks
Eric

I don't think you can do that unless you are paying for 2 IP
addresses.

I'm not asking about contractual questions I'm asking about
networking these two routers together

Attach the hub to one of the new router ports. Connect the wireless to
one of the available ports. You will have to work out the subnetworking
of the wireless from the setups and capabilities built into both
devices. You will be able to access the setup pages of both devices
based on their IP addresses once they are set up appropriately. Linksys
probably had a support document on how this is done.

The two routers in parallel will require your acquiring a second IP
address since you have two devices (routers or computer nics) connected
to the modem. This is the easiest setup.

you mean like this?
-------------
cable modem |------ befsr11 w/gateway 192.168.1.1--pc 192.168.10.xx
------------- --192.168.10.2 --<=wan side-(wireless router)lcl side=192.168.15.1

Thanks

Seems to me to be a waste of time. Remove the BEFSR11 from the network.
You don't need it any longer.

Cable Modem --> WRTP54G That's it !

The WRTP54G is a 4 port 10/100 Mb/s E-switch and Wireless Access Point (WAP). You can
connect the hub to one of the 4 LAN ports on the WRTP54G if you need to.

My error. Just the reverse modem to new wireless router, wireless
router port to old wired router. Really, you have everything you need
in the new router plus a hub if you need more ports. The old router is
superfluous unless there is something about the phone capability I don't
understand.

You are right, i really dont need the wired router **except** for one small
thing. I have a scrip that ferrets a status page out of the wired router
and determines the WAN ip from the data on that page. So far I have been
unable to duplicate that with the new router. The html in the wireless
router uses cgi a lot and its not just a matter of requesting the page like
it is in the wired router. in the wired router i can:
wget -q --http-user=' ' --http-passwd=******* http://
192.168.1.1/Status.htm -O /tmp/Status.htm

very easy.
The html in the wireless is much different and i cant get logged in and
request a page from it with wget.
presently I'm using this arrangement and it works ok

Since you can acquire the information from the router's web page, and
you did not disclose originally that you *claim* you use this script, I
suggest that you are on your own since you do not, in fact, suffer a
loss of functionality.
