For file sharing to work you also must make both computers members of
the same workgroup and they must be on the same IP/subnet mask, eg XP
machine as 192.168.1.2 subnet 255.255.255.0 and ME machine as
192.168.1.3 subnet 255.255.255.0

For ease of navigation and depending on how your hard drives are
partitioned, I would be inclined to map drives on the secondary machine
(machine you use less) onto the primary machine and assign a high drive
letter eg T:, S: etc. (From explorer window on the XP machine choose
tools > map network drive.
