I have xp home on my desktop and laptop. Through a wireless router, I have
access to the internet and to a common printer from both computers.

The deskop can "see" AND access the shared file folders on the laptop, but
the laptop cannot access the files and folders on the desktop.

The "my network places" on the laptop does not contain any icons from the
desktop (but desktop displays icons from Laptop).

On the laptop I click "view workgroup computers" and there is one for the
desktop, but when I click it and Error message appears on laptop indicating
the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

I have right clicked and "shared" the c drive from the desktop, but still no
access.

I would appreciate any help.

Did you check the firewall settings on the desktop. If you have a firewall,
turn it off and then take a look. It might not be instantaneous, so you might
have to wait a few minutes.

If nothing is blocking it, and no icons show up, go to network neighborhood,
and under "add a location", see if it's there when you browse.

Hi
Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings,
http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html
As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what is allowed
to be shared.
