OK, I figured out how to network the desktop and laptop, but my next project
involves integrating my home stereo into the mix (mp3's from hard drives
over the stereo). Is this possible? I'm using a D-Link DI-624 wireless
router to which a PS2 and desktop is connected. Can this be achieved
wirelessly or via a patch cord from the laptop to the auxiliary inputs of
the stereo? Any help or pointers will be tremendously appreciated - thanks
in advance for your time and consideration.

Peace be with you,

They make a FM transmitter, runs on battery or wall adapter. Buy it at
circuit city or best buy. Plug it in to your sound card output and
then turne the stereo to same channel.

There are quite a few options that work over the Wireless G protocol.
They are typically called "media centers" or something similar. A few
that spring to mind are made by DLink, Linksys, and Roku.

None of these play the proprietary iTunes m4p format that you get when
you purchase a song, however. For that, you'd need an Aiport Express
with AirTunes.

They are all in the 125 - 200 dollar range.

Easiest way is just to Plug a cable from your sound card on your computer
into your Stereo. You can even get a splitter to have a single Mini Jack
to plug into the Sound card, and have it output 2 Mini Jacks so You can have
one go to your computers regular speakers and the other one go to your
Stereo. In fact I have my doing just that besides a Video connection
hooked up to my Stereo Receiver, I hit Video 1 on my Surround Sound
Receiver, and I get Video output to the TV and Audio though the Recover.
Sounds great. Cheap and easy. Of course there are down sides. You need
the computer close to your Stereo to hook the wire up, and you have to
control everything from the computer. But you'll get better sound this way
then a Wireless FM solution.
