Hi,
I wanting to know whether I can use an ADSL modem to network two
computers at home . I have ADSL internet and a ADSL 4 port router , computer
A is set up for the Internet , now can I network computer B to computer A
using this ADSL 4 port router but I don't want computer B to have any access
or to be access from the internet ? So what I 'm saying is sharing files
locally but computer B to be immune from the internet .

Any information would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks ...

Can certainly be done, though without knowing what router you have it may
not be guaranteed... Some routers have security/access features allowing
different profiles to be used, and different access to be granted/blocked
so the second PC may be blocked at all times from internet access if that
is what you want. I've done something a little less restrictive with the
Belkin wireless router where one set of IP addresses had no restrictions,
while a second set had restrictions to block internet access 0000 to 0600
so the youngsters of the family could not stay online all night. Peter M.

I currently have 2 network cards in computer A , the one on the internet ,
the 2nd network card is for the local network only .. I just want back my
PCI slot and wondered whether I could do it using the ADSL modem .. My modem
is a Billion ADSL 5100 4 port router ... The main reason I asked about using
the ADSL router is I don't want to have to load any anti virus internet
security programs on computer B but I have access to files on Computer A ..

Thanks ...

I'm not sure about this but it may be possible to do something clever
with the network masks. You need computer B to have a restrictive mask
that only lets it see computer A. Computer A needs a mask that lets it
see both Computer B and the router. The router also needs a restrictive
mask, but one that only lets it see computer A.

Either someone will step up and fill in the details or tell me I'm
talking bollocks. Only time will tell.
