I have two PCs: 1 desktop running XP Home connected to a Netgear DG8344Gv3
and an ADSL modem, and a laptop running XP Professional. I can access the
internet from the laptop. I can ping the desktop from the laptop and vice
virsa. I can also access files from laptop to desktop (and vice virsa) by
run \\ ip address. I've set up file and printer sharing but I can't seem to
access files from my network places, etc. I must have done something
(obviously) wrong when setting up the network but I can't see what.

Can anyone help?

PS. I'm a bit of a novice so the simpler the better, thanks.

As a simple fast test I suggest that you try temporarily disabling the
firewalls on both machines and see if they then show up.

Hi
Using UNC ( \\ip\share or \\computername\share ), or and mapping drives, is
a faster more efficient way to share.
You can also use Win Explorer as well if you want Visual maneuvering.
