Home network server setup

Hi all

I am going to install a server for my home network and was wondering if I
could install Windoze 2k pro on the server and then run apache and 602
Lansuite from 2k over the network rather than install a specific server os
aka windoze 2003?

What difference would there be running a server on a workgroup rather than a
domain other than the logging on procedure?

Many thanks for any ideas!!

Neil

The non-server versions of Windows have a lower connection limit than
the server versions, but I can't remember what it is. Why not use
Linux?

I use win2k pro as a server, its restricted to 10 tcp connections at any one
time though, if its not going to be busy you will be ok.
I've never had a problem with apache. php. perl or sql with my setup.

I have tried but I can't get my head around all the networking side of
things :-(

I would love to run Linux and have recently been trying Clarkconnect Server
system but I just can't get certain bits to work and it is starting to do my
head in! Windoze is just so much easier to get to work !

Cheers
Neil

Cheers for the info. I wouldn't have thought that I would have more than 10
tcp connections ( is that outbound or inbound as well ?)

Thanks
Neil

I've used ClarkConnect server and have found it pretty solid. If you want
help with your problems with it, let me know
