Hi
I've been using home networking router solutions now since they started to
become popular round about 4 years ago, using Netgear DG834 range of
products. I also set up a Belkin F5D7632 (v1000uk) about 2 years ago.
In both cases I was able to make multiple PPTP VPN connections to the same
remote firewall over those routers.
As time has gone on and new models are released, I've found that the new
model routers will only allow one client to establish the VPN connection,
subsequent attempts will fail. The remote firewall can 'see' the subsequent
connection attempt but it does not complete the process and the client PC
gets an error message.
I'm assuming that the older routers basically allowed more than one tunnel
to be created but that the manufacturers in their wisdom have removed this
ability from their newer models of 'home' products.
The Belkin F5D7632 (v1000uk) failed recently and went and got the same model
to replace it, albeit it is now v5000uk. I now cannot make the multiple VPN
connections as I did before.
I've contacted Belkin and Netgear and they have both said that they do not
have a product to suit !!
There must be something out there that will support the multiple VPN client
tunnels?
I don't really want to consider endpoint to endpoint VPN direct between the
routers at the moment.
Anybody have any suggestions ?
Regards
