It depends how long he's had Home Highway. The minimum contract period is 12
months. If he's had it less than this, he will have to *pay* for the rest of
the 12 month period even if he cancels earlier.
Apart from that, I don't think there's a notice period as such.
Rather than get BT to convert his line back to PSTN and *then* order ADSL,
he would be well advised to go to an ADSL ISP which offers a managed
conversion. That way, HH will be removed and ADSL activated on the *same*
day. Futhermore, if the line is found not to support ADSL, HH will be
re-instated at no cost to him.
[If he gets BT to remove HH separately, they weill charge 50 quid for this -
and if ADSL doesn't then work, he'll have to pay to have HH re-installed. A
managed conversion avoids this - although there is still a £50 fee (on top
of the ADSL activation fee) if it's successful].
