I used to. I've even got a spare HH box in the loft that might work if
plugged into an active line. When this new-fangled DSL stuff came along I
swapped back to a POTS line seeing as BT can't cope with ADSL-over-ISDN
(which is perfectly possible, ask the Germans).

AIUI, the German variant of ADSL is compatible only with ISDN, just as
ours is compatible only with 'POTS'.

Each adopted only the variant compatible with the great majority of its
subscribers' lines.

Yes, well Business Highway actually.

I use the 'additional numbers' feature combined with a tiptel 195 ISDN phone
and it helps me runs a home office efficiently.
I harbour hopes of replacing those features with VOIP, but haven;t got it
working yet. (community network problem, separate thread).

It's basically the same thing except that with the ISDN flavour some of the
lower-frequency subcarriers are removed because they're in the ISDN
passband. There's no reason why it wouldn't work on a POTS line as well.
The only side-effect is a small decrease in maximum bandwidth available but
as most ADSL links don't run at max, it's not noticeable.

I used HH for six years but recently changed to ADSL.
When selecting a supplier I went to the BT business page ( the BT domestic page would not work for me) and used the online test for ADSL feasibility.
It replied that my line was at present ISDN/HH and a pop up appeared stating that they (BT) would come on site, convert my line back to POTS free of charge and then make a full line test and if ADSL worked leave it that way, or if not revert it back to HH. This pop up was not printable and I am anxious to see the full wording as I have now received a bill for the conversion. (Once converted you are no longer an ISDN line and can no longer see this particular popup).
The pop up appeared when I entered my phone number in the 'Business Broadband Check Availability , selecting the BT business Lite package, perhaps from this link:
http://www.btbroadbandoffice.com/bro...inkID=PS_BROAD

If someone could capture the pop-up I would appreciate it
Michael
