Home Highway to ADSL

Hi.

Question for you.

My brother lives in a rural area, and has Home Highway.

He'd like ADSL, and his exchange goes live Feb 18th next year, _despite
not hitting its trigger level_. The preliminary BT test says he should be
able to get 2Mbit.

According to a map, he's 5.25km as the crow fies from the exchange.

Now, I remember there used to be limits with Home Highway and ISDN,
regarding range.

Seeing as he has HH, which is a bit more twitchy about distance/line
quality, if he's got HH with no dropouts, what do you think his chances
are of getting ADSL?

Thanks,

Pete.

His exchange must have hit a trigger level or benefiting from some
govt/council money/scheme somewhere...

If he is that far away he is unlikely to get 1MB or 2MB - 512K is a good
possibility

The BT checker will not be that accurate as 1) he has Home Highway and 2)
his exchange has not yet been enabled.

He should go with an ISP which offers the HH-->ADSL conversion option from
BT (cost £50 if successful)

If the line is unable to support ADSL then BT will reinstall Home Highway
for him and not charge anything.

Regards
Sunil
