Has anybody had experience of using a high gain aerial on their
wireless network.

I have thought of using one with my Netgear DG834G.

Can any aerial be used with this router?

Yes, I use two beam antenna's to allow access to my network from a couple
of km away. Are you wanting to do similar, or just improve reception
locally around the house? Incidently, I use a DG834G also.
