Hi networking types...
Does anyone 'in the trade' remember when Novell gave away promotional
2-user licensed copies of Netware 4.1 (4.11?) on CD? As a trainer and
dealer-based techy I used to have tons of copies floating around but,
alas no longer (believe me, I have checked!!).
I have a situation where a VERY old Netware 3.12 server has died and the
original install disks are long gone. The server is hosting data for an
application that *expects* the files to reside on a mapped Netware drive
- it simply won't work to a M$ share due to the compilation switches
used (we get all sorts of 'file in use errors'. We can't re-compile the
program code and the original author is long gone.
Anyway...I need to have access to the program and data for perhaps
another month as I migrate everything to another app, so I have had the
bright idea of using one of these 2-user copies of Netware 4.1 to setup
a temporary server, but I guess you know my slight problem!!
Does anyone have a copy of this Netware CD that they could duplicate for
me - happy to pay material and carriage costs or to make a donation to
your favourite charity (Children in Need?).
I'm going to have a look at the server tomorrow but the diagnosis I got
over the phone (complete with sound effects which bring to mind a disk
failure!) sounded ominous.
Jut in case you are wondering, yes I do have a backup of the data (first
thing I did when I 'inherited' the project) but it would make life so
much easier if I could run the original application to test the migration.
I'm off to post in the Novell forums now...
Thanks
