I am new to 2003 server and I am trying to connect several
XP clients to my 2003 AD server. I am trying to connect
the XP machines but can't figure out, what is the process
to connect the XP clients to the server. Is there a client
protocol that I need to use to connect the machines to the
server? Where is the software for the client located and
where can I get assistance to setup the client to the
server? I have changed my TCPIP settings and can see the
server via My Network places but I cannot get logged on to
the network.... Please Help me ASAP....

Thanks

I got some information on joining the XP Client to my
server. I also found out that XP Home edition cannot join
a domain. I have to use XP pro to get my clients to join
the domain. Which leads me into my next question. Is their
an update for XP home to convert to XP Pro and if not can
I load XP Pro over XP Home and save my current data? Any
assistance would help in this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Can I load XP pro over top XP home
and save my data and settings or do I have to format and
then load XP Pro?

You can do an upgrade in place - with XP, this is a fairly painless process.
As always, though, back up your data, unplug any peripherals like printers,
scanners, handheld cradles etc., and uninstall your antivirus software
first.

You can purchase the XP pro upgrade. You don't same any money because you
already have XP though.
