Hi,

There's probably a simple answer but I'm new to wireless networking and
couldn't find the info from a search...

I'm using a cable modem at present, but intend to switch to ADSL in a few
months. I want to go wireless but would prefer a fully integrated solution
and don't want to buy a separate ADSL modem.

Can I use a device such as the Paradigm Technology PWR-CE74 -
http://www.paradigm.com.tw/a3_Adsl_PWR-CE74.html - for both my shorter term
and longer term needs?

Does the term "direct bridging" mean that it will have an RJ45 input (for
the cable modem) as well as an RJ11 (for the ADSL line)?

Cheers for your help.

Peter

Yes, but why? You have a cable modem now and will get a DSL modem from your new
provider. Why not just buy a cheap (less than $100) wireless G router now and
don't worry about it? It will plug into your current cable modem as well as the
new DSL modem.

Hi Peter;
I read the link you provided and as best as I can see thiis product is a
plain Cable or ADSL router. It doesn't say anything about ADSL modem.
Most modern wireless routers will work with both ADSL and cable. But you
still would need to provide a ADSL modem to act as an interface between the
phone line and the router.
I don't see this as a 1 piece solution that you seek. And I agree with
Clark that you would be better served by just using a modem and router.

Clark, Tom

Thanks for your replies.

The description of this product from the UK supplier is "ADSL Modem +
802.11b & 4 port Wireless Router".

I'm likely to get a low cost "wires-only" ADSL service and I hoped this
could save me from buying a separate modem; but only if it can support my
present cable modem for now.

Cheers, Peter

Ah, I see! I had a similar situation where I was having intermittant DSL modem
problems and needed to replace it. The service provider wanted too much money,
so I went to eBay and bout a good used replacement. You might consider the
same...
