Hi,

I'm new to the 802.11 WLAN technology and I've got a problem which I can't
get to the bottom of. I'd be grateful for any suggestions which may solve
it. I've had a few tries using Google, but to no avail.
Thanks in advance for your help.

My setup :

Dell Truemobile 1184 Wireless Broadband Router, which has two PC's wired to
it which both work perfectly in this manner. At the moment I have not
turned on any kind of security. (I'll do this when I get it all working
properly).

Dell Truemobile 1150 Wireless PCMCIA card installed in an old Compaq LTE
running Win 98SE. The Dell TtreMobile client s/w reports that it can see
the router/access point, with plenty of signal strength. I've configured
TCP/IP on the laptop to be bound to the 1150 card, and set it up to expect
a dynamic address to be assigned.

However the problem is that this laptop does not get an I.P. address from
the router. Is there anything I'm missing ? Both ofthe wired PC's get an
IP address from the router with no problems, and the router is set to
provide DHCP services.

thanks again for any help/advice given.

cheers

I should also note that some are finding that with the WAP update from
Windows Update (I don't recall the number), the router and wireless card
must have WEP enabled to connect.
