Help w/ SMC2635W Card + Orinoco RG-1100

I recently purchased a SMC2635W Card to add to an additional laptop on
my wireless network. I currently have an Orinoco RG-1100 'residential
gateway' with two Orinoco Gold Cards. They work flawlessly.

I have installed the SMC2635W Card, drivers and utilities. Site Map
shows the router and SSID. WEP is enabled and I desire to maintain the
security. However, I cannot connect.

I contacted SMC support with futile results. They first pointed to
Advanced Settings to change to 'enable open systems'. There are no
'Advanced Settings', even in the updated drivers and utilities
downloaded from their site. After pointing that out to them I received
an email to change the 'preamble' without any further explanation. I
have no idea what they are talking about. This has left me frustrated
and seeking advise from this forum.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
