OK, then. Probably just a function of waiting until Windows finally bothered
to update its connection configuration, which can take up to 15 minutes or
more. I'm always impatient and use WINIPCFG, instead.
For the sake of logic if nothing else, I'd uninstall any adapters, Clients
and Protocols you're not actually using (VPN, DUN adapter #2, even the main
DUN adapter if you're not going to be using dial-up anymore.) They're all
easy to put back in if needed (but keep that installation CD handy!)
