Help: Trying to connect a 98 machine to a 2K machine

I'm an MCSE but have done 100% of my work on NT 3.5 and later. I even
thought that by this point I had gotten lucky and would never have to
deal with networking a 9x OS.

Recently my church, desparate for IT help, asked me if I had some
time. I of course said "yes" only to discover that their network
consisted of 6 98SE systems on a LAN connected to the Internet by a
linksys DSL router. Prior to me helping them it was a constant coin
flip to see if any particular computer would be able to access the
shared hard drive or the printer on two of the other computers. I
told them the 98 machines had to go and a decent Pentium Pro and II
systems were donated with A 2000 Pro license was donated by a couple
of people and installed on these systems. As expected, the two 2K Pro
machines cooperate without problems. One of the 98 machines, however,
cannot access either 2K machine. I have created network shares on the
two 2K machines and given "Everyone" full access. However, when I try
to map to a share or a printer one to one machine it says the the
network resouce is unavailable; for the other it asks me for the IPC$
password.

All these machines have both TCP/IP and NetBEUI configured and whether
the machines can talk to each other or not Internet connectivity
through the DSL router is always available. Due the availability of
the 'Net I know the issue is configuration, not basic connectivity.

I hd thought about uninstalling and then re-installing the networking
on the machine but thought it would be better to read up on 9x
networking first. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding either
my immediate problem or someplace I can go to read up on this?
(BTW...one thing that is really getting me is the lack of the "Connect
As" box in the map network drive dialog. I somehow suspect that if I
could somehow tell it who I am then it will let me connect. Even if I
log into 98 as Administrator with the password for the 2KPro machine
the error messages remain the same.)

TIA
