You can use filters, which aren't 100% accurate (there are several
programs you can download).

To make it harder for any other spam companies to find out your e-mail
address, stop putting your real e-mail address into public forums such as
newsgroups (like you seem to have done here) - get a free e-mail address
such as Yahoo or Hotmail for use purely on these public forums.

Move to a ISP who supports SPAM filtering.

Well assuming the above is your real email address then this is probably the
biggest cause of your Spam. spammers "harvest" email addresses off usenet
newsgroups, just like this one.

You might consider munging your email address in outlook express -> tools ->
accounts -> news so the reply address is not you real one, but close enough
that a human being can work it out. for example, I have munged your
addressing my reply above.

see http://members.aol.com/emailfaq/mungfaq.html#why-mung (amongst many
other) for more info.

Damaged is already done though, other people have rightly pointed out how to
try and cope with this.

P.S. Changing you IP address will have no effect on Spam.

Jc.

Use a baysian filter. POPFile.sf.net

It's written in Perl, and has a nice Windows installer, or a Perl
distribution for *nix.

you basically setup some catagories, 1 of which is Spam (other may be
anything you like, work, lists etc), and then you train it for a week or
2, then it learns and catagorises your email. You have to setup filters
in your email program so it knows where to stick the catagorized mail.

It's open source, and without a doubt the best spam solution out there...

"Munge" your email address when posting to newsgroups for a start, take a
look at this site. http://www.mailmsg.com/SPAM_munging.htm

Once your email address is 'out there', there is no way to stop the SPAM.
You can try using filters etc. but none is intelligent enough to stop all
junk and / or let all genuine mail trough.
You can use Mailwasher or ScanMailBox which let you see the sender and
subject and you can delete the junk on the server before it is downloaded to
your PC. But if you get loads, it's a PITA.
Ultimately you will need to change your email, and don't use the new one in
any newsgroups or websites.
I have abandoned 3 email addresses already.
Regards,
Martin

Better still, get a free e-mail address (for use purely on these public
forums) which filters out the spam and then forwards the remainder to
your real address. For example:-

Or K9 which is smaller and faster and just does spam categorisation. Now
has public "blackhole" server support too.
