I have an interesting problem that I hope someone can give me some advice
on -

At home we're running a small network with a server running Windows Server
2003 and 3 XP Pro machines, all have fixed IPs & are connected to a DSL
router that acts as our gateway to the internet. Separately to this I have
another DSL router that I connect my laptop from work to - it in turn is
connected to a 2nd NIC that I've put into the server which I have acting as
a router between the 2 different networks (different IP ranges).

As would be expected, all traffic within the 'Home' LAN or within the 'Work'
LAN works as it should but I'm having intermittant problems when I try to
communicate between them and (even though I'm using WINS) the PCs never seem
to appear correctly in the browse list on the other network (& browse very
slowly). Most commonly (& worst of all, even though RRAS has static routes
setup) the PC on the Work LAN can only ping or access the PCs on the Home
one (other than the co-located server) once a ping or tracert has been
performed in the opposite direction.

Setup as follows -

Home LAN
82.x.x.80/29
Server is 82.x.x.83, all clients use this for DNS
Router is 82.x.x.86, all clients have this as the default gateway
Router is set to send traffic to 10.224.74.64/28 to the server as a gateway
Router has 10.224.74.66 set to use NAT & an 82.x.x.84 IP address to the
internet

Work LAN
10.224.74.64/28
Server is 10.224.74.78 & is currently the default gateway & DNS server for
all
Router is 10.224.74.65 & sends all traffic to 82.x.x.80/29 via 10.224.74.78
Client is 10.224.74.66

Server Setup
Master Browser
RIP is setup & forwards all outgoing packets from the Home LAN for
10.224.74.60/28 only
RIP on the Work LAN only accepts packets for 10.224.74.60/28
Static route set up for 10.224.74.60/28 on Home LAN to goto gateway
82.x.x.83
Static route set up for 82.x.x.80/29 on Work LAN to goto gateway
10.224.74.78
WINS running & being updated correctly
DNS running with static IPs for all PCs on the network

Am I missing something to cause things to run either slowly or not at all ?
Given that I'm using different domains, will I ever get a full list of PCs
on each client PC ?

Thanks

Steve
